A mother's necessity is the mother of this invention
Stacy Sager has combined a mother's love with a passion for travel and an amour for style to create an unparallel new line of baby essentials: "butt-ums up babyTM". The assembly includes the original and 'patent pending' diaper changing pad as well as blankies, burpies and a teddy bear collection.
Stacy's concept development began after she was faced with a dilema familiar to many mothers in the "labor" force: do I go back to work or do I stay at home full-time? After Riley (now three) was born Stacy's mother, Mary Jo, took an early retirement from The American College of Surgeons in Chicago to help raise her grand-daughter. It was a comfortable situation until sixteen months later baby brother Ryan was born which proved to be too much with Stacy's unpredictable schedule in the medical profession.
Stacy's inspiration for "butt-ums up babyTM" came from traveling with two children while accompaning her husband Craig Sager during his various assignments across the globe as a broadcaster for Turner Sports (TBS/TNT). Traveling with two children in diapers became cumbersome as well as a challenge to find a sanitary area to make the necessary changes. Stacy and Mary Jo came up with, "butt-ums up babyTM" their solution to how all parents can change a baby's "butt-um" faster, more efficiently and in style.
The road to mompreneurship....wasn't easy Currently, working in medical sales part-time helps to finance her business. A University of Illinois at Chicago graduate with a major in biology, Stacy is very career driven but admits she didn't know the first thing about the retail industry (except that she doesn't like to shop). With a whole lot of internet research, patent writing, cold-calling and celebrity gifting, "butt-ums up babyTM" was born!!!
The "butt-um" line Stacy Sager created the diaper changing pad to give parents a functional yet stylish way to change a baby's "butt-um" for the on-the-go life we live today. It only made sense to use the same hip and luxurious soft chenille fabric to make coordinating blankies and burpies to go with them. Soon she will be expanding her line with personalized onesies. Her work currently is being sold online at www.buttumsupbaby.com and locally at Sweet Peas located in Canton, GA.
